Power BI: show popup after hovering the mouse

To display an automatic popup when I hover my mouse to a specific visual like a chart, I will have to create a new page with the popup meaning that for instance, if I have a “status” and “priority” charts, for both to show it, I will have to create 2 new hidden pages (1 for status and 1 for priority) and of course, do some configurations. In the other hand, if you are looking for an interactive solution, like clicking in a button to make appear information, read Power BI: bookmarks or pages ?

The popup can be created from a picture or anything else but for my article, I will do something simple so I have this page:

power bi

I will create a new page that I will name “status” and I will hide it (right click) since this page is not useful for my users:

Before doing anything in this new page, I will configure it:

  • Page information: active “allow use as tooltip”
    power bi
  • Canvas settings: in “type”, select the format, in my example, I select “custom” and I will put manually the height and the width for my popup

Once done, I can create my popup by inserting a shape and putting 2 cards, here be creative not like me:

Back in the main page, I select my “status” chart and in “format your visual -> tooltips”:

  • Type: report page
  • Page: select “status” (new page)

Now, if I hover my mouse on the pie chart, the popup will appear and it will show the number corresponding to where is my mouse:

I will repeat the same process for “priority” but in this case, after selecting my column chart, in “tooltips -> page”, I will select “priority” and not “status” as you may guess:
